Review
I had forgotten how much I love God of War. It's the melee fights for me. I love being able to fight with button combinations like R2+O for a runic attack or R1,R1,R1,R1,R2 for a cool heavy attack. There are not a lot of games that offer this kind of melee attack combination. I wish I could fight like this in Horizon instead of mainly using the bow.
Anyway, in the previous God of War, we got introduced to Atreus -- Kratos' son. In this game, we continue fighting with Atreus, but they added more places in the story where you fight as him. It was a nice change of scenery because you get to fight with different weapons and powers, but I didn't find it as fun to fight as Atreus. The other cool thing is that you get to have different companions; either as Kratos or as Atreus. At one point you fight as Kratos with Freya as your companion, or as Atreus with Sindri, and so on. This was also a nice change every once in a while.
I think what I liked the most was that there was a new weapon being introduced for Kratos, not just the regular blades and axe. I really enjoyed playing with all of them. They all had super fun runic attacks.
I still think Atreus is annoying and Kratos is a horrible dad 🤣 but I really enjoyed the story anyway. I liked that there were more female characters introduced to the story, like Freya, Angrboda, and Thrud. They're still secondary characters, but it was fun fighting alongside them.
Talking about the story...There's a SUPER COOL plot twist at some point and I really enjoyed it.
Also, Odin sucks.
