So they basically took Cat Quest and made it CUTER?!?!
Yes, that is correct. From my Cat Quest review, it sounded like that was the cutest game I've ever played but it was because I hadn't played Cat Quest II ๐
It's the same basic principle: you're a cat and you fight monsters and the villain, BUT the twist here is that... YOU CAN ALSO BE A DOG!!!
Ohhh yeah ๐ for those pup-lovers out there, you can totally choose if you want to be the cat or the dog and you will always have a companion on your adventures.
I think the best part of this game, besides the twist of having two main characters, is that you can choose to play solo or multiplayer. The quests are easier (IMO) if you play along with another person who helps you defeat the biggest bosses (one person being the dog and the other one being the cat). Or even if you choose to play solo, the game makes a really good companion to help you defeat everyone.
The cool thing about having two characters is that you can switch them at any point in the game with just one button. And because each character can be personalized on its own - clothes, weapon, spells - that means that you can choose to have them each be specialized in a different thing! For example, your cat can be the melee fighter and your dog can be the spell caster. You'd want to do this switch because some monsters have to be defeated with melee attacks and some have to be defeated with magic.
Besides that, if you die while fighting (playing solo), you automatically get switched to the other character. So this helps you essentially have two lives. You can also revive the other character while fighting, although it's a bit tricky sometimes cause you have to be standing near the body while fighting at the same time.
There were also a bunch of new features and updates to certain mechanisms, like how there are more spells now and you can just pay to upgrade specific weapons/wands instead of having to randomly wait for them to be upgraded.
There are also some funny references. Like there's a reference to Batman and The Office at some point (if I'm remembering correctly lol).
I didn't think I could love Cat Quest more, but turns out I can.
